THY RETURNS ON LOAN TO END OF SEASON

FC St. Pauli have made their first signing of the winter break. Lennart Thy arrives on loan from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen to bolster the squad in the battle against relegation. Director of sport Andreas Rettig has reached an agreement with Bremen officials to take Thy on loan to 30 June 2017 but without option to buy.
The 24-year-old striker left the Boys in Brown in summer after four years at the club (2012 to 2016) to go back to Bremen, where he began his career in 2007. Thy has made seven competitive appearances for the Bundesliga side this season, scoring once.

Head coach Ewald Lienen: "We're glad we've been able to persuade Lenny to return to FC St. Pauli. He's a quality player who's full of running and thus a great addition for us. He knows the team and won't need long to settle in, which is obviously an enormous advantage for us."
Lennart Thy: "I'm delighted to be back at the Millerntor, even if it's only for half a year. As a former St. Pauli man, I obviously care about keeping the club in this league. We've got a tough task ahead of us, but I'm convinced there's enough quality in the squad for us to achieve our objective!"
