SCHULTZ DEMANDS MORE POWER AND ENERGY

Three games in six days – tomorrow’s rearranged fixture at Kickers Würzburg makes it a challenging start to 2021 for the Boys in Brown. Head coach Timo Schultz looked ahead to the game at a news conference on Tuesday morning.
…the injury situation: "More or less the same players are available as played at Fürth. Daniel Buballa sustained a blow to the knee and couldn't train fully yesterday. We'll have to see how the situation develops. Things are slowly looking up for James Lawrence and we hope to have him running again this week. Guido Burgstaller was out for a long time and still needs a few training sessions and cameo appearances to be an option for more playing time. The role of substitute is the right one for him at the moment."
…the Fürth game: "We spent yesterday recovering and analysing the match. We were unable to be more active and create more chances against a good footballing side and deserved to lose as a result. We’ve drawn a line under it now and are focused entirely on Würzburg."
…the mood in the camp: " After a game like Fürth the mood isn’t the best, of course. You can be despondent for a while but there’s no point in feeling sorry for yourself for days on end. We’re tense but also optimistic we can do better. We’ll approach the game with a different mood, power and energy. We go to Würzburg full of optimism and conviction aiming to perform well and hopefully take all three points."
…the relegation battle: "Anyone looking at the table will see four teams very close together at the bottom but I’m a long way from calling it a final. We know it's a huge chance for us to leave the automatic relegation places and take a turn in a different direction with a win and that’s how we’re approaching it. We want to play a much more active role and focus on the things we can influence."
…his future as coach: "That isn’t something I can judge, and I don’t want to either. I’m focusing on what I can influence. That’s a good way to prepare for a game and set the lads on the right track."
…the significance of the game: "Every game is important because it’s an opportunity to get three points. We’re just over a third of the way into the season, with another 20 games left to go after Würzburg. It’s a game we want to win, and I’m absolutely convinced we will win if we put in a good performance. That’s something we can actively influence. We’ll see how things look afterwards."
…the decision between the posts: "We have another training session today and then inform all the players of our decision, not just the goalkeepers, but Svend will keep goal again unless something out of the ordinary happens."
…Svend Brodersen: "I spoke to him after the game. There was no blame from me or from the team. We stand together as a team whether we win or lose. Svend is mentally strong and stable for his age and he responded well after his mistake. He continued to be brave coming out of his goal and made two or three excellent saves later on."
…Robin Himmelmann: "Robin has done absolutely nothing wrong, I have to be very clear about that. It was a purely footballing decision to take him out of goal. We went with Svend at the end of last year because he deserved it."
…the opposition: " We're not in a situation to underestimate any team, especially away from home. We're focusing on ourselves and the things we can influence. We have to make sure we perform better, and that's something we can actively influence. If we do, I think it's very likely we can win there."
