DŹWIGAŁA: "I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN HOW TO PLAY FOOTBALL"

The Boys in Brown return to action after a very short winter break with a trip to Greuther Fürth on Sunday (13:30 CET). They will be strengthened in their quest for three points by Adam Dźwigała, who signed for the club a few days before the home game against Fortuna Düsseldorf after a spell out of contract. ...his first impressions of FCSP and Hamburg: "I can say it's the best organised club in my career and the people here are very friendly. I haven't had much time to get to know the city yet because I haven't been here that long."
...the last few days: "I stayed in Hamburg over Christmas and didn't fly home. I've been training here and doing my best to prepare for the games to come."
...help from Svend Brodersen, who speaks Polish: "Before I came I did some research and saw there was a player with a Polish flag on transfermarkt.de. I wasn't sure if Svend spoke Polish until he spoke to me in Polish in training. I was a bit surprised but happy that he speaks my language. He's been helping me by explaining simple things in training and telling me things about the club. It's a big help for me to get started."
...his strengths: "In my younger days I played in midfield, which is where I learned how to anticipate. I think it helps me see lots of things on the pitch. I also have good technique."
...the possibility of playing at Fürth: "My last game was in February, but I haven't forgotten how to play football. I'm training with the team and I feel ready. It's up to the coach to decide if I'm going to play."
...his time at Desportivo Aves: "I had a contract until August and trained with the squad in Portugal until then. There was a change of coach and I didn't play under the new one because he didn't like me. After a convincing 3-0 win, I watched from the stands and was out of contention apart from one brief appearance."
...the time without a club: "It wasn't easy because it was the first time in my career that I didn't have a club. I was a bit surprised because I'd made 17 appearances for Aves in the Portuguese top flight. At the end of my contract, I went back to Poland and trained and kept fit at the fourth-tier team Victoria Sulejówek. Two of my brothers play for them. I didn't expect to be without a club for so long but I've found one now and I'm very happy to be at FC St. Pauli."
