KAUCZINSKI HANDED NEW DEAL

FC St. Pauli have made two important decisions on the football side and extended the contracts of head coach Markus Kauczinski and his assistant Markus Gellhaus, which were due to expire next summer, until 30 June 2020.

For director of sport Uwe Stöver, the decision was a logical consequence: "The team is developing in an absolutely positive way. That's the core task of a coach and his coaching team, so it's only normal to extend the expiring contracts. I look forward to the continued collaboration with the coaching team."

Head coach Markus Kauczinski is also looking forward to carrying on his work with the club. "I'm glad to be able to remain here and continuing along the path we have set out on with the players, the coaching team, the backroom staff and those associated with the club. I didn't need long to think about it because I've convinced that together our prospects for success are good."

Assistant coach Markus Gellhaus is also positive about the future. "I'm happy about the trust being placed in me and to be able to continue working for FC St. Pauli. I hope we can achieve the targets we have set ourselves."

Markus Kauczinski replaced Olaf Janssen as head coach in December 2017 and successfully staved off relegation last season. This term he has guided the team to fourth place in Bundesliga 2. Markus Gellhaus arrived at the club in summer 2017 and has been a member of the coaching staff since then.
