FC St. Pauli reorganise coaching staff

More staffing decisions have been made following the appointment of Timo Schultz as new head coach on Monday, the club announced today. The contracts of assistant coaches André Trulsen and Markus Gellhaus, which expired at the end of last season, have not been extended. The Boys in Brown have also terminated their relationship with assistant coach and opposition analyst Hans Schrijver. The Dutchman's contract was set to run until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Talks with potential successors for the trio are at an advanced stage, as are negotiations for an extension of the contract with goalkeeper coach Mathias Hain.

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Timo Schultz and I held intensive discussions regarding our future staffing policy on Monday. Timo has assumed the post of head coach with a clear vision of the kind of football he wants to play and what is required of his coaching team as a result. We're now working on putting these ideas into practice. Ending the working relationship with esteemed colleagues is never easy, of course."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "With a heavy heart, especially in André Trulsen's case, we've decided to start with a new coaching team in order to launch a new approach and breathe new life into the work with the team."

Thanks for all you've done for FC St. Pauli, Truller, Markus and Hans!
