ST. PAULI SIGN TORE REGINIUSSEN

FC St. Pauli have strengthened their defence with the addition of Norwegian centre-back Tore Reginiussen until the end of the 2020/21 campaign, with an option to extend for the following season.

Reginiussen was contracted to Rosenborg BK from August 2012 until the end of 2020 and became a free agent in January. He made a total of 271 appearances for the Norwegian top-division club, including 19 outings in the Champions League qualifying competition and 40 in the Europa League. Reginiussen scored 28 goals and provided 7 assists for Rosenborg. He has also played 31 times for Norway (4 goals). The 34-year-old was also on the books of FC Schalke 04 from 2010 to 2011.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "The addition of Tore Reginiussen increases our options in central defence and we now believe we're prepared for any eventuality. He's seen a lot during his career and won't need much time to settle in."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "I'm glad we've been able to get Tore Reginiussen. He leads from the front, has a wealth of experience and will add stability to the team. The fact he's played in Germany before is a plus and will make it easier for him to integrate into the squad."

Tore Reginiussen: "I'm happy to play for a special club with lots of history and a big heart. Mats Møller Dæhli and Leo Østigård told me it's a great club and I wouldn't regret moving here. I now want to help the team on the pitch as soon as possible."
