St. Pauli sign Lukas Daschner

FC St. Pauli are pleased to announce another new signing. Midfielder Lukas Daschner, 21, moves to the Millerntor from third-division MSV Duisburg, putting pen to paper on a contract until 30 June 2023. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the transfer.

Daschner spent three years in the youth section of FC Schalke 04 before joining MSV Duisburg  in 2013. He moved through the youth ranks and made the transition to the senior squad in 2017, making a total of 15 league appearances in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and scoring two goals. Last season, Daschner made 38 competitive appearances for the Zebras, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "We have a team with lots of promising young players. Lukas is a perfect fit because he has potential too and has already proved he can play to this potential on a consistently high level. He significantly improved his performances last season and established himself at MSV."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "We want to carry a much bigger attacking threat from midfield next season and this is precisely the attribute that Lukas offers. He has a good finish with both feet, he's strong in the air and brings his teammates into play very well. He can also be used in a variety of positions, which gives us additional options in attack."

Lukas Daschner: "I was delighted to learn that St. Pauli were interested. The talks went very well. Things then moved relatively quickly because I think we're a very good fit, not only in footballing terms. I can't wait to get started and to support the team."
