SEASON-ENDING INJURY FOR VEERMAN

The news that Dutch striker Henk Veerman tore the anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his right knee in the game against FC Magdeburg comes as a bitter blow for the Boys in Brown.

The suspected diagnosis made by club doctors Volker Carrero and Sebastian Schneider on Saturday evening was confirmed by further tests carried out by Dr Sebastian Schneider at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) on Sunday morning.

"We're obviously all very sad that Henk has suffered such a serious injury and will do everything we can to ensure he's back amongst us as soon as possible," said head coach Markus Kauczinski. The injury is serious enough to rule Veerman out for the rest of the season. The striker is set to undergo surgery on the injured knee in the next few days.
