KNOLL JOINS ST. PAULI ON FOUR-YEAR DEAL

The first piece of business for the 2018/19 season is done and dusted. FC St. Pauli have signed Marvin Knoll from Jahn Regensburg. The 27-year-old centre-back has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2022.

"We're delighted to have signed Marvin," said director of sport Uwe Stöver. "He was a mainstay of last season's surprise packages Jahn Regensburg and played his part in a great season for them with his ability to deliver consistently good performances. Marvin is a free-kick specialist who as well as carrying a goal threat is a strong-tackling player with leadership qualities."

"St. Pauli stand for passion, fight and team spirit, values and qualities I can fully identify with," said Knoll. "I'm looking forward to the team, the fans and the unrivalled Millerntor atmosphere."

A native of Berlin, Knoll enjoyed three successful seasons at Regensburg, playing a key role in their rise from the fourth-tier Regionalliga Bayern to the second division. He made a total of 116 competitive appearances for the Bavarian outfit (11 goals, 11 assists). Before joining Regensburg, Knoll was on the books of Hertha BSC from 2004 to 2011 and again in the 2012/13 season (8 second division appearances, 1 goal). He spent the 2011/12 campaign on loan at Dynamo Dresden (12 appearances, 1 goal, 2 assists) and played for SV Sandhausen from 2013 to 2015 (10 appearances).
